Study Notes

Each week a new post will go up on Wednesday with scripture, my journal reflections and questions for you to consider journaling on.  I will also post the next section of scripture to read over the coming week.

There are many different methods on how to study scripture inductively.

Priscilla Shirer’s 5 P’s method is my preferred way.

There is the S.O.A.P Method

There is the S.O.A.K Method

Kay Arthur has a lot to say on the subject as well.

It doesn’t matter if you use these methods or something else.  You will understand things the best if you first pause to pray asking God to give you wisdom to understand what you are reading, and then read, pause, reflect and read again. James 1:5-8 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
